Skipping Girl Vinegar

Four piece band Skipping Girl Vinegar (SGV) are named after a heritage sign which advertised, believe it or not, a brand of vinegar featuring a skipping girl on the label. Formed in 2006 and comprising of brother and sister Mark and Sare Lang and their respective childhood friends Chris Helm and Amanthi Lynch, the Melbourne-based band’s debut single One Chance was the Australian iTunes ’single of the week’ when released in August 2007 and featured prominently on nationwide radio.

When releasing their debut album Sift The Noise in 2008, the band spurned some serious offers from labels small and large and, banking on a groundswell of international support, released their album in Australia via their own label, Secret Fox. Sift The Noise is testament to the band’s obsession with melody, pop-hook, and the search to stretch their song craft. A dark, warm, organic record that reflects the environments and journey of the band, and has been received ecstatically by public and media alike.

SGV has played and continues to play many of Australia’s premier festivals including The Falls Festival (2008), Sunset Sounds (2009) and the Port Fairy Folk Festival (2009). The band have also supported many acts including big names like The Lemonheads (USA) and Missy Higgins.
