Selection #1 – Male vocalists

Featuring Andy Stone, David Martin, Derek James and The Brilliant Mistakes

TRACK 1: ANDY STONE – IN THE COFFEE SHOP, WHEN

Imagine a dinner party hosted by the Beatles, with a guest list that includes XTC, Squeeze, the Zombies and Kinks, Aimee Mann and Elvis Costello.

That’s a metaphoric taste of Andy Stone’s music, or Litpop — melodic, hook-driven songs with narrative lyrics.

TRACK 2: DEREK JAMES – SMOKY LIGHT

Derek James wears a fedora. A Frank Sinatra, Buddy Holly, Johnny Cash sing-a-long, his boots can be heard stomping to his old-time rhythms. Having worked with producers Roger Greenawalt (Crosby/Nash, Rufus Wainwright) and Godfrey Diamond (Frank Sinatra, Kool and the Gang), Derek’s retro pop sound, hummable melodies and jug-band spirit will have you swinging in your skivvies.

TRACK 3: DAVID MARTIN – SOMETHING IN YOUR EYES

While sharing a few of his songs for some friends at a party in Washington D.C., David Martin’s breathtaking voice caught the attention of a record company CEO and he was soon in the studio recording.

Since the release of his debut album Something In Your Eyes he has opened for Elton John, sung at a major league baseball game and made numerous television appearances.

TRACK 4: THE BRILLIANT MISTAKES – GOOD YEAR FOR A CHANGE

The Brilliant Mistakes formed in 1994 in New York City when singer-songwriter-keyboardist Alan Walker met songwriter-bassist Erik Philbrook while they were both working in book publishing at Penguin USA.

Their third album Distant Drumming was released in 2008 marking a distinct evolution in the band’s sound. Incorporating plenty of acoustic guitar, lush harmonies and a wide array of vintage keyboards.
