Smouldering Rock

Featuring Anemo

It was September 2002 in Brighton, England, when Hazelle Woodhurst walked in to singing audition and, unlike many before her, thoroughly impressed host Kingsley Sage. With their shared passion for different types of music the pair began to turn out songs together. Songs that would become the genesis of a band. Before long, they cemented the rock angle they had been taking by adding guitarist Matt Palmer and taking on the name Anemo – a word that means “changing forms” – to reflect the blend of styles and influences that was brought to the music.

Gaining the attention of a fledgling New York record label CEO, the new band signed on to produce three albums and rounded out their song collection to create debut album Slowburn. The album arrived in 2005 to critical acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic and, with four additional members, Anemo took to the stage with an energy and passion that earned them the 2006 “Best live band” award from the Classic Rock Society.
