The Power Of Rock

Featuring Anemo

Building on the success of their first album Slowburn, in October 2007 Anemo released the attention grabbing single Pray as a prelude to their then forthcoming second album. The single, about BBC war journalist John Simpson, received a lot of attention and entered rotation on the BBC’s 6 Music programme.  A year later, the album Stentorian – aiming to capture the energy of the band’s live performances – was released. Pray was the opening track.

The new album from Anemo hits the ground running and doesn’t really let up. Still perched on the rock side of pop rock this is a good quality collection of well written and delivered tunes. There power and glory in the music, and soaring passion in the vocals that combine beautifully well. Throw in a few studio tricks and you have an excellently sounding of lively modern music.

Concurrent with the album release, the second single Musicbox was released. This song entered Music Week’s Club Charts in the Commercial Pop Top 30 chart at #25 before peaking at #11 only a month later. This single has also been the subject of extensive remixing including versions from Brighton’s own T-Boy, Ministry of Sound regular Tomfoolery & Translucence and Kyle Abrahams.

The album features a variety of styles and some very interesting lyrics – not least band favourite Heaven is Waiting which is a song about a woman murdress reflecting upon the life she has lead.
